The Race to Valderrama is on!
This summer, enter the Macdonald Summer Golf Series taking place across all five of our golf hotels, and you could win a seven-night golfing holiday to Spain for four - including a round on the world famous Real Club Valderrama - by playing just two events.
Our team Summer Series Open Competitions are taking place on various dates this summer across Scotland and the north of England. Win one single qualifying event at the location of your choice, and you'll be invited to take part in our Grand Final, where one talented team will win the big prize!
It's the perfect way to experience our stunning Macdonald golf courses in a competitive environment, and be in with a chance of winning not only The Race To Valderrama, but other amazing prizes too.
How it works
Play in a single qualifying team open competition at your choice of our golf hotels to be in with a chance of winning The Race to Valderrama.
The winner of each qualifying round will gain free entry to the Summer Series Final at Macdonald Cardrona on Sunday 29th September 2024.
Entry is in teams of 4 and the qualifying event formats are either Texas Scrambles or Best 2 from 4.

You could win a 7-night stay at our Macdonald Villacana Resort with 2 rounds of golf, one of which will be on the former Ryder Cup course, Real Club Valderrama - widely regarded as the very best in Spain.
There are also prizes in every open qualifying competition for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place, Nearest the Pin & Longest Drive.

How to Enter
Once you’ve gathered your team of 4, and determined which of the qualifying competitions you’d like to play in, you can enter via our booking system, BRS.
The 'Book Your Place' buttons below will take you to the relevant BRS pages to register in our Summer Series open golf competitions.

Linden Hall Summer Series Competition Dates
Play in a qualifying event for The Race To Valderrama at Linden Hall Golf Course on the following dates:
- Saturday 25th May: Texas Scramble (£80 per team of 4)
- Sunday 7th July: Best 2 from 4 (£80 per team of 4)
- Saturday 3rd August: Texas Scramble (£80 per team of 4)
- Saturday 7th September: Best 2 from 4 (£80 per team of 4)
Portal Summer Series Competition Dates
Play in the qualifying events for The Race To Valderrama at Portal Chamionship Golf Course in Cheshire on the following dates:
- Saturday 15th June: Texas Scramble (£100 per team of 4)
- Saturday 13th July: Best 2 from 4 (£100 per team of 4)
- Sunday 4th August: Texas Scramble (£100 per team of 4)
- Sunday 8th September: Best 2 from 4 (£100 per team of 4)
Hill Valley Summer Series Competition Dates
Play in the qualifying events for The Race To Valderrama at Hill Valley's Emerald Course in Shropshire on the following dates:
- Saturday 11th May: Texas Scramble (£80 per team of 4)
- Saturday 22nd June: Best 2 from 4 (£80 per team of 4)
- Saturday 13th July: Texas Scramble (£80 per team of 4)
- Saturday 24th August: Best 2 from 4 (£80 per team of 4)
Cardrona Summer Series Competition Dates
Play in the qualifying events for The Race To Valderrama at Cardrona Golf Course in Peebles on the following dates:
- Sunday 16th June: Texas Scramble (£80 per team of 4)
- Saturday 27th July: Best 2 from 4 (£80 per team of 4)
- Saturday 24th August: Texas Scramble (£80 per team of 4)
- Saturday 21st September: Best 2 from 4 (£80 per team of 4)
Spey Valley Summer Series Competition Dates
Play in the qualifying events for The Race To Valderrama at Spey Valley Golf Course on the following dates:
- Sunday 2nd June: Texas Scramble (£120 per team of 4)
- Sunday 14th July: Best 2 from 4 (£120 per team of 4)
- Sunday 18th August: Texas Scramble (£120 per team of 4)
- Sunday 1st September: Best 2 from 4 (£120 per team of 4)
Terms & Conditions
From £20 per golfer. Golfers must enter in teams of 4 and places are subject to availability. Players must hold an official WHS handicap to enter. The final will be an AM/AM (best 2 from 4) format held at Macdonald Cardrona on Sunday 29th September 2024. Prizes issued at each golf hotel may vary. The top prize for winners of the final is a 7-night stay at Villacana Resort with two rounds of golf for four people. This prize does not include flights to the destination. Further prize conditions will be explained ahead of the final.
The format per competition varies and will be explained by the golf director prior to tee off. Not open to Macdonald Hotels & Resorts staff or golf professionals. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your competition tee time and check in at golf reception / pro shop before playing.
